Northern Renewable Group is locally Northern Territory owned and operated, providing commercial and industrial Electrical, Communications, Solar, and Airconditioning Business Solutions with over a decade of experience. Northern Renewable Group servicing the entire Northern Territory (including Remote Stations), providing renewable energy and technical installs/upgrades to the community. We specialize in all things Electrical and Solar, from designing and installing on and off-grid, residential, commercial, and industrial systems, through to solar bores, solar hot water systems, and solar lighting. We also cover your electrical needs from wiring new builds or upgrading existing premises, to installing or replacing air conditioners and fixing/upgrading light fittings. Our team consists of over 30 employees from Administration, A-Grade Electricians, Apprentice Electricians, Air Condition Technician, and an Electrical Design Engineer to develop a customized system to exceed your needs. Through our partnership with Juice Capitol, we are able to offer Power Purchase Agreements with commercial or higher power usage customers, with no capitol outlay, and free power for the first 6 months.
Northern Renewable Group is CAL, ARC and CEC installer & designer accredited, as well as ISO certified (AS/NZS IS0 9001:2015 – Quality, AS/NZS ISO 45001:2018 – WHS, and AS/NZS ISO 14001 – Environmental)

Qualifications
Northern Renewable Group are structured with staff possessing a wide range of specialised Skills. All of our projects are specifically designed and developed by Mr Sandesh Lamsal, Northern Renewable Group’s Electrical Engineer who possesses a Masters in Electrical Engineering, specialising in Energy, Planning and Policy Making with collaboration with Northern Renewable Group Director, Mr Jake Groves, who maintains his Off-Grid CEC accreditation for grid connect and standalone systems and Mr Leigh Fowkes who maintains his on grid CEC accreditation for grid connect and standalone systems – both install and design. All our employees who carry out Electrical components of projects are either A grade Electricians who are residents of Katherine or surrounding communities in accompany with our 2nd year Electrical Apprentices who are also local to the Northern Territory. All of which are current with Working at Height, First Aid, CPR, LVR and Scissor Lift Qualifications. Where specialised skills are required, specifically trained staff are qualified in High-Risk Qualifications, HV switching and data and communication cabling.
Where necessary, Northern Renewable Group will liaise with Top End Consulting Recruitment Hire who assist with the recruitment of regional indigenous labourers for the full duration of community projects who are trained prior to the commencement in White Card and Working at Heights as a minimum which will provide the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out the required activities as per our company’s SWMS, risk assessments and safety management systems. This training will also allow for transferable skills for future employment prospects of the recruited labourers.
Northern Renewable has implemented an Integrated management System (IMS) which has been

Leigh Fowkes
Director
Leigh develops and implements plans and objectives for the company in an effective and innovative fashion. He maintains compliance with external regulations and internal policies. He identifies the clients’ needs and works with cutting-edge technology to create a customised system. He is also responsible for product and supplier selection. This enables Katherine Solar NT to always have the latest and greatest products to offer their clients.
Leigh is an Electrician and Grid-connect Solar Designer/Installer. His background as a Commercial Electrical and Solar contractor makes him a great asset to the team.
Leigh has qualifications in Electrotechnology Electrician (Cert. 3), Grid-Connected Photovoltaic Systems Design & Install, ACMA – Communications cablers license (Fibre, Horizontal cabling, MATV endorsements), Air-conditioning and refrigeration (Cert. 3), Installation and maintenance of Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Area (Ver. 4).
Jake Groves
Director & A grade Electrician
Jake directs and controls the company’s operations and gives strategic guidance. With his Aboriginal cultural awareness training, Jake is responsible for all day-to-day operations. He is also responsible for the installation process and coordination of all aspects of the project. Jake oversees the installation from the initial stages through to commissioning and manages the after-care service.
Jake is an Electrician and Standalone Solar Designer/Installer. Jake’s background as a Commercial Electrical Project Manager/Supervisor enables him to see a project through without hiccups. His credentials include CEC Accreditation for Off & On-Grid design and installation, a University Studies Business Acceleration Program, and 6 years of Project Management.

Northern Renewable Group are the proud recipient of the 2021 Northern Territory Export & Industry Awards for Local Content sponsored by the NT Manufacturers Council.
NRG are the proud recipient of the 2021 Master Electricians Energy efficient project of the year Northern Territory/South Australia finalist and Winner. NRG – Bagala Store, Barunga. An excellent example of combining solar and storage with monitoring to provide a 40% reduction in energy costs for a food store in a community in remote NT.
